NEW VERSION FOR 2022/23!
In one high-energy hour, your students will come face to face with Columbus, the Pilgrims, the Salem "witches" (and their 1950s HUAC counterparts), the Boston Tea Partiers, the framers of the Constitution, the Missouri Compromisers, Levi Strauss and his Blue Jeans, and the Gettysburg Address.
Add in Thomas Edison, the invention of movies, WW I and II, the Great Depression, FDR, the Cold War, the Civil Rights movement, the Womens Rights movement, hippies, Watergate, Reagan and Gorbachev, and the invention of the internet, and you have a fun - but still useful - overview of the greatest social experiment in world history.
Please note that slavery, the treatment of indigenous peoples, and historical ethnic and gender discrimination ARE dealt with in this show, along with the efforts of others to end them and build a country with freedom and equality for all.
Designed for students in grades 4 through 8, this should get your students curious about some of the fun backstories of US History. Available at locations throughout Chicago, or on tour to to you.
