Six American soldiers sit around a campfire in Afghanistan, dreaming about the day they can return home. One of them tries to break the mood by telling them the story of another famous soldier who wanted to get home. Within a few minutes, the group have all become part of his story, playing the Sirens, Cyclops, and witches that bedeviled the original Odysseus on his 20-year trek back from the Trojan War - and trust us, this story DESERVES the extra "d" in the title.

This new adaptation is designed to put Homer's adventure tale into a context that any 5th to 9th grader will get, with character types who'll be familiar and a very modern tone and humor. This isn't "childrens' theatre" - it's an adaptation for young adults, one that appreciates the wildly bizarre elements of Homer's story but also recognizes the very real longings that lie at its core; of a man for his family, a son for his father, and a wife for her long-missing husband.

THE ODDYSSEY will be available starting in late April of 2012, and year-round from that point on. Keep an eye on this page for updated study guide info and a brief script excerpt from the show.
