This new show is designed to have a good time with our own national story, putting an irreverant and entertaining spin on America's past while still dropping in a ton of information for you and your students to talk about long after the show is over!
Your students will come face to face with Columbus, the Pilgrims, the Salem Witches (see the video below!), Geo. Washington, the Boston Tea Partiers, the framing of the Constitution, Lewis & Clark and Sacagawea (but everyone knew her as Nancy), Eli Whitney's cotton gin, the Missouri Compromisers, Levi Strauss and his Blue Jeans, and Abraham Lincoln - and that's just in the first 35 minutes! Add in Thomas Edison, the invention of the movies, WW I & II, the Great Depression ("don't worry, nothing like that will ever happen again..."), FDR, the Cold War, the Boomers, Vietnam, 1970s fashion, Reagan and Gorbachev, and the invention of the internet, and you've got a fun but still useful overview of the greatest social experiment in world history.
Geared for kids from grades 3-8, this show should get your students really curious to find out where all the rest of those missing details are in their history books. Hold on to your hat for this breakneck tour through 500 years of America's story!
50 States in 60 Minutes is also available as a "field trip show" at the Greenhouse Theater in Chicago and at the Zelazzo Center in Milwaukee- to make a booking for your group for one of those performances, follow this link to the Cinema Academy site and book online!
